Granite State Comic Con 5/23/2010
So the Granit Con was awesome. I ended up working the con for Chris’s Comics. I was a little nervous that I wasn’t going to be able to do anything or have any free time, like at the Boston Con, but it was a lot less crowded and more laid back. I got to do a lot more shopping, got all my books autographed, and I got to hang out a lot more. It was an Equal Balance of doing my own thing and working for Chris, and defiantly not as stressful.
Some of my highlights where getting autographs from Bob Almond, Becky Cloonan, Talent Caldwell, Khoi Pham, Tim Seeley, and Cliff Rathburn and buying original art from Tim Seeley and Sara Richard.
Tim Seeley had forgotten his pens and he had nothing to sign with, so I gave him my sharpie. He was like “hey man, since you gave me a marker take this” And he gave me a Walking Dead graphic novel he did, for free and I had him sign that too. I was pressing my luck and asked him if I could take a picture with him too. He said he hated getting his picture taken and that he wasn’t going to smile but it was ok anyways.. I love the pic I got LoL he looks all pissed off but he was a really cool dude.
I think the best part of the day was going up to Becky Cloonan ‘s booth. There was this creepy looking guy talking her ear off. She gave me this look like “oh thank god someone else to talk to, Help me get away from this wierdo”. She signed my Demo #1 and took a pic with me and we chatted for a bit. The guy was still hovering so I gave him a look like “dude you need to piss off” and I think he got the hint. Later she did a cover sketch of Hawkeye for me and gave me a history lesson about medieval archers and later we joked about the creepy dude that sketched her out. She was really cool and thankful for the helpful bail-out from Mr. Shaddy. It’s rare I get to look cool in front of a talented, attractive, well know artist… It made my day
